Large Hardscape Project, Londonderry NH

On this large hardscape project, completed by Interstate Landscape, in Londonderry NH, Techo Bloc products were used throughout the site. Some of these products include Mini Creta and Semma retaining wall block, York and Portofino cap for walls and pillars, and Tundra edging for the driveway edge. Pavers for the project include Antika, Aberdeen, and Villagio. Ninety Kichler nightlighting fixtures were installed throughout the landscape to illuminate the site during night time hours. Three Aquascape water fountains were added  to enhance specific sections of the project- creating soothing sights and sounds.  Watch the entire construction process by going to the Techo Bloc You Tube Channel to watch the 3 week project broken down in to 70 videos.

Southern New Hampshire Paver Driveway Installation

On this 6000 sqft driveway installation project in Southern NH, Techo Bloc Antika and Villagio pavers were used to create a combination permeable and interlocking paver system.  The permeable section was built at the bottom of the driveway slope to collect water runoff. Alliance permeable paver infill stone was used to infill the paver joints to allow water to penetrate in to the system. The interlocking section was installed on the driveway slope and Techniseal RG+ polymeric sand was used to infill and stabilize the paver joints. The use of color banding of the pavers adds aesthetic beauty to the project. A Danfoss under paver heating system melts snow and ice during the winter season. The construction process included removing the old asphalt, removing old base material and replacing it with ICPI approved base material, and installing two layers of soil stabilization geosynthetic fabric. The new base material was installed in 3″ – 5″ lifts and compacted with a Weber CR-8 13500 lb cf compactor to achieve 98% Proctor Density. The pavers were then sealed with a Techniseal Wet Look sealer to enhance and protect the color and durability of the pavers.

Goffstown NH, Retaining Wall Replacement

On this small retaining wall project in Goffstown NH, Anchor Diamond Block was used to re-stabilize the parking area on the side of the driveway.  The original retaining wall installed many years ago by the homeowner had failed. We reused the existing block for our buried footing courses, and installed the new Diamond Block on top of the old block which was still in excellent condition. We then installed 3/4″ stone and a 4″ drain pipe behind the Diamond Block.  The existing sandy gravel fill was used as our infill soil behind our column of 3/4″ stone. The infill soil was compacted in 3″ to 5″ lifts to attain the NCMA specification of 95% Proctor Density.  Geogrid was placed every 18″ to help stabilize the infill soil. Sonotubes were installed every 6 feet for a future fence installation. A flat shelf was built at the toe face of the wall. Stone was placed on the shelf and below it on the slope, to prevent erosion of the existing soil.

Bedford, New Hampshire Patio Project

This patio project in Bedford, NH was challenging in many ways. Lack of access, and a severe slope required significant grading and the use of several retaining walls to create this backyard outdoor living space. Materials used on the project were pavers and retaining wall block manufactured by Genest Concrete in Sanford, ME.  The pavers in the patio area are Earth Blend Acadia Stone. A double sailor course of Baxter Stone was used as a border, and inside the Baxter Stone runs a course of 9 x 9 Acadia pavers. The patio itself, is a random pattern. The sitting walls, retaining walls, and pillars are Earth Blend 6-pc Highland Stone. Granite steps were used to create level walking pads in the Baxter Stone paver walkway, from the patio up to the driveway. Eleven LED Kichler Nighlighting fixtures were installed under the wall caps and along the walkway to provide ambiance and safety for evening activities. Inch-and-a-half Riverstone was used under the deck and in the privacy hedge bed, for low maintenance and aesthetics. Six foot Arborvitae were used to create a living hedge and privacy fence beside the patio. Sod was installed in all of the disturbed lawn areas.

1400 Square Foot Techo-Bloc Patio

For this large patio project located in Salem New Hampshire, the homeowners wanted a place to entertain a large number of guests. The patio area consists of 1400sq ft of Techo-Bloc Blu 60 Mojave Beige pavers. The patio area is surrounded by two sitting walls, and pillars constructed with Yankee Natural Wall Stone and capped with granite. The smaller circular patio is made from Clarksville Flagging Stone and is bordered in Farmers Chopped Edging Stone. Surrounding this patio project is 250 shrubs, trees and perennials and 20 yards of mulch. To top it all off 15 night lighting fixtures were installed all around the project. This was a great project to work on and we are extremely happy with the way it turned out.

Genest Hollandstone Paver Patio

For this project located in Southern New Hampshire, Interstate Landscape installed an outdoor living space consisting of 650sq ft of Genest Hollandstone Pavers laid in a herringbone pattern. The main patio color is Granite Blend and the border is Cumberland Blend. A small Diamond Block retaining wall, a Techo Valencia fire pit and 100ft of Rinox Belmont Border was installed around the above ground swimming pool. What really capped off this outdoor living space was the home owner installed an outside HD TV on the shed so they could enjoy the Patriots games with their neighbors from the patio!

Construction of A 10ft High Snowman

For this fun project located in southern New Hampshire, Interstate Landscaping created a 10ft high snow man in the cul-de-sac near their shop. Here is an article that was published in our local online newspaper.

“Bored? Got some extra time? Any heavy equipment?

Meet Bob, the ten foot high resident of Sheridan Drive made of snow. There was a bit of elbow grease used during his three hours of creation, but more can be attributed to hydraulic oil. Bob was created by the Gardocki family of Londonderry, owners of Interstate Landscape co. inc., and they took the liberty of putting some of their heavy equipment to use during the construction. Bob’s body and giant legs are made of snow, sticks were used for the arms, and plant pots are used for the eyes, mouth, and buttons.

One of the creators, Tom Gardocki said, “We did it for fun, but we figured since we have the big toys we should build a big snowman.” Tom worked together with his parents Bill and Gail to make the enormous winter addition to the cul-de-sac at the end of Sheridan Drive. Bob has now become a hit with the neighbors who are coming by to get pictures next to him with the kids. There is a time lapse video that is a must see to get a real sense of the scale of Bob.”

Large Wall and Patio Project

This difficult project located in Windham, NH was quite a job. Interstate Landscape started with the removal of an old deteriorating timber wall. The homeowner wanted to create more living space in their back yard so after the wall was removed we excavated back 8ft of the hillside and removed about 120 yards of fill. When we were excavating we ran into three large patches of ledge that had to be removed. We then jack hammered and removed the ledge making way for the preparation of the base of the new wall. Once the base was completed, construction of the segmental retaining wall began. In total 400 face feet of three and six inch Highland Stone Earth Blend was used to construct the wall. After the wall was completed, base prep and installation of 800 square feet of Genest Baxter and Acadia stone pavers were used to construct two patios and connecting walkways. A Genest Windsor Block fire pit with metal liner was also constructed in one of the patios. The patio and walkway areas were lined with 400 lineal feet of Rinox Belmont Border. To top the project off 900 square feet of sod from Tuckahoe Turf was installed. This was a tough and challenging job but we feel the end result looks great!

Granite Pad and Step Installation

For this job located in Londonderry NH, Interstate Landscape installed a 6′ x 4′ granite pad and 3, 6′ granite steps. Here is a video of the installation process, shot from the inside of the excavator cab. The video is at 2x speed.
